FAQ

FAQ's about the Airdentifier

How do I interpret the readings from the Airdentifier?
The Airdentifier measures six individual values. Based on scientific insights, for each of these values has been determined when they are ‘excellent’, ‘moderate’ and ‘not good’ for health. These values can be viewed individually. By clicking on the notification in the app, or by swiping left from home and clicking on the value, you will learn where the limits are. To keep things clear for you, an overall indoor climate score is shown on the app's homepage. By default, the interpretation of the values is set to the profile ‘Zehnder standard’. If desired, you can adjust your profile so that the sensor becomes more sensitive ‘Vulnerable health profile’ or less sensitive ‘Comfort profile’.
How long does the battery last?
The Airdentifier can be flexibly placed in any room in your home or office thanks to extra-long USB-C cable (180cm long). Should you want to temporarily use it wirelessly, you can do so for up to six hours thanks to the built-in battery.
How long do I get a warranty?
The Airdentifier comes with a two-year warranty. If there is a defect within that period, please notify us via the contact page.
How do I update the sensor?
The software is automatically updated when the Airdentifier is connected to Wi-FI. The various sensors in the Airdentifier will be calibrated on first use. Thereafter, this will be done automatically once a week. If desired, this can be done manually in the interim. It is recommended to let the sensor acclimatise for an hour before the first use to avoid a spike in TVOC values.
Which volatile organic compounds (TVOC) are a threat to my home's air quality?
This question is difficult to answer. Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) is a collective term for a variety of organic chemicals that spread invisibly in the air. They are difficult to measure separately and their impact on health also varies widely. By no means all substances are harmful to your health, but a few, such as ‘benzene’ and ‘formaldehyde’, are very harmful to health. In general, take precautions and ventilate extra.
Is the Airdentifier compatible with other smart home products?
No, currently you cannot link the Airdentifier to your ventilation unit or your smart home products. We are constantly evaluating which features can contribute to healthier air and better user experience in the future.
Can I use the Airdentifier as a replacement for a carbon monoxide detector?
No, the Airdentifier is intended for indoor air quality monitoring only. It does not replace safety devices such as carbon monoxide detectors, gas alarms, toxic gas detectors, fire alarms or medical devices.
Can I adjust the brightness of the LED ring?
Yes, you can. To do this, go to the settings icon in the bottom right corner > click on the name of your Airdentifier > ‘Behaviour’
Does the Airdentifier clean the air?
No, the Airdentfier is a measuring tool. You get advice via the app that allows you to easily improve your indoor climate yourself. The Airdentfier is not an air purifier.
What is the Airdentifier's expected lifespan?
With normal use, the Airdentifier will last about 15 years. The particulate sensor PM2.5 PM10 may deteriorate after about five years. Should this be the case, it can be replaced separately for the best measurement results.
Does the Airdentifier also work on the move/outside my home?
The Airdentifier basically works anywhere, but the tips and advice are aimed at a home setting.
Can I customise which values are visible on the Airdentifier's screen?
The main screen shows at a glance how good the indoor climate is and what, if any, the dominant polluting factor is. In the app's settings, you can also opt for a main screen showing multiple measured values. To do this, go to Settings, choose the Airdentifier you want to customise > Behaviour.

FAQ's about the App

Can I get notifications from the app?
Yes, notifications are sent when air quality exceeds or drops below certain limits. By default, notifications for overall air quality are on. You can customise this. For example, by turning all notifications on or off or by setting this per value. To do this, go to the settings icon at the bottom right > Click on the name of your Airdentifier > ‘Notifications’.
What can I do when my app does not recognise my Airdentifier?
That's inconvenient. Check if your Airdentifier is connected to power, if you have WiFi connection and if the product code on the back of the Airdentifier matches the one in the app. It may also help to update or reinstall the app. If none of this works, please contact us via the reply form, email or phone.
Do I need to have an app to use the device?
For commissioning, the app is always required. Once the Airdentifier is connected to a WiFi network, it can also be used without the app, although the product experience becomes many times better using the app. Without the app, the Airdentifier's functionality is limited to displaying current air quality. You then miss out on the historical data, tips and information, and you cannot adjust the device's settings.
